It can be hard to navigate responsibilities and manage time effectively as busy college students. It’s easy to get lost in juggling academics and social life - so easy that you might forget the importance of taking time for yourself. Taking time for yourself is just as important as anything else, a lesson people are sure to learn during their four years. Here are some tips for investing in yourself throughout college.Â
Tip #1: Find a Creative Outlet
Take some time to find a creative outlet you enjoy! Activities like painting or playing an instrument can be fun while also helping to relieve stress. Doing arts and crafts projects like making bracelets tends to help boost my mood. Finding a way to express yourself creatively is a great way to pour energy into yourself.Â
Tip #2: Read a Book
When was the last time you read a book that wasn’t assigned to you? If it’s been a while, consider picking one up and giving it a go! I tend to always feel more satisfied after reading a couple of chapters of a book in comparison to watching a movie or a show. Nowadays, it’s easy to peruse book recommendations online. Whether it’s self-help books, mysteries, or romance, find a book genre that you enjoy. Â
Tip #3: Exercise
Going to the gym or taking a walk can do wonders for your mental health. You can even use exercising as a study break if you’re having trouble finding the time as a student. Although it can sometimes be hard to find the motivation, I always feel so much better after exercising. Exercising has so many benefits and is a great way to invest time into yourself, if you’re able.Â
Tip #4: Take a Break from Devices
Our lives can be so consumed with screen time that it can be hard to detach. However, if you decide to have a digital detox, even if it’s just for a short amount of time, it can feel rewarding. This digital-free time allows you to prioritize yourself and your personal growth. Consider taking this time for meditation, self-reflection, or just to sit outside and enjoy nature.Â
Remember to take care of yourself, and have a great rest of the semester!
